Andreas Prein

Andreas Prein, Project Scientist
Andreas Prein earned his masters and doctor degrees at the University of Graz, Austria where he investigated uncertainties in climate model projections and benefits of high-resolution climate modeling. Dr. Prein's main research focuses on the understanding of hydrologic climate extreme events, their potential changes due to climate change and impacts on society. The main tools that he uses for his research are convection-permitting regional climate models that are able to explicitly simulate deep convection and resolve the fine-scale structures that are occurring in rainfall extremes. He is an expert in dynamical climate modeling, climate model evaluation, high-resolution observational datasets, and advanced statistical analysis.
